Hints, Tips And Maintenance For AEG Airsoft BB Guns

TIPS AND GUIDES FOR AIRSOFT AEG GUNS

This is additional information to ensure that you get the maximum use and pleasure from your Airsoft BB Gun.

Barrels – these often have more grease in them than is good for them.  We recommend a thorough cleaning before use to get the best out of your gun.  Please ensure that the hop up is set to off while doing this.  It is advisable to repeat this after firing several magazines through the gun to remove any grease being ejected from the gearbox.

The same above also applies to cleaning the barrel after use, and it is also advised to use a little silicone oil in the hop chamber and magazine every other use, DO NOT USE WD40 OR ANY OIL NOT SILICONE BASED, THIS WILL DAMAGE THE GUN.

BBs – Many guns have very tight barrels, commonly 6.03mm internal diameter.  Consequently you should only use high quality BBs such as King Arms, Extremes, Blasters, BAW etc.  Do Not Use cheap quality BB’s the type found on market stalls or unbranded ammo etc as they can damage your gun and invalidate your warranty.

Even if a BB looks perfectly round, if its an unbranded BB the chances are it is not round, even the smallest imperfection can damage your gun, and never re-use BB ammunition.Warrantys are void if poor quality ammo is used or re-used or in our opinion has been used, please check with us before using if you are unsure of a particular brand of ammo.

Magazines – Many guns use high capacity magazines not always listed in the instructions, to operate fill the magazine in the top though the small filler hatch, wind the wheel at the bottom until a repeat “click” can be heard, the magazine is then ready to use

FPS (Feet Per Second) – This is the speed the BB leaves the gun, it is advisable to check the FPS of your gun on the cronograph of the site you attend.

There is a very basic test you can find on the internet using the “poor mans crono” this is a very basic test to give an idea of you airsoft gun’s power and is not an accurate test.

The reason for testing is to check the guns performance so problems can be spotted early, it is common for the FPS of an Airsoft gun to drop over time, this all depends on how the gun was used, how many BB’s fired and how you have stored your gun.

Always make sure you have fully re-set the gearbox before storing you gun (fire 1 – 2 shots in semi auto), this can stop your gun from losing large amounts of power due to spring compression.

It is also common for a new Airsoft gun to increase in power, this is due to seals and springs settling in, again check you FPS to make sure it meets you Airsoft site requirments.

Batteries – The supplied batteries are of adequate performance; however you will get much better performance and life out of them if you charge them properly.

To calculate the charging times use the following formula:

Battery capacity (mah) divided by charger output (mah) multiplied by 1.4 to give charging time in hours.

For example:  1100/250 X 1.4 = 6.16 hours

Please note that if a battery or charger other than that is supplied to check the connections before using, as power connections can vary from battery to battery.

Please Note:  Batteries & Chargers are excluded from our normal warranty, as they are susceptible to overcharging.

Troubleshooting – If your airsoft gun fails to fire please follow these simple steps:

  1. Is your battery fully charged
  2. Did the battery get warm during charging
  3. is the magazine fully charged
  4. if there is no power check the fuse in the fuse holder near the battery connector (20 – 25 amp car stereo fuses)
  5. is the barrel clean and the hop-up set correctly, (never use metal rods to clean the barrel)
  6. Check the motor connections as these can vibrate loose over time, these can be found under the plate on the base of the pistol grip on M4 / MP5 /G36 models, remove the plate very carefully carefully not to lose the washer  (some guns do not have this part)
  7. Does you motor need fine adjustment, some airsoft guns can require this once the gearbox has settled (Please contact us for advise on how to make this adjustment)
